Spring Term 2019
Busy, busy busy!
This Spring Term has seen the usual hard work across school and now that we near the Easter holiday it is good to finish with the customary celebrations - egg and bonnet decorating - and where families join with us to enjoy this special time.
There has of course been a great deal of preparation within Year 6 with SATs due in May. Maths Booster Club has been well attended and children have risen to various challenges within their learning - well done them and well done to staff keeping everthing 'on track'.
To help ensure school stays up to date in its teaching and learning and to share its own good practice, teaching staff have made visits to a school in another Local Authority and both sides have benefitted from the experience.
The School Governing Body is currently recruiting two new members and we look to having them working with us from the Summer Term. New personnel will bring new experiences and new ideas - all of which will 'widen school's horizons'. We welcome them to Quarry Bank Primary!
Staffing news update:
Many of you will already know that Mrs Qamar has given birth to her baby boy and both are doing well! All our love and congratulations to the new family.
Mrs Valentine (previously known to us as Miss Beddow) has returned to the Quarry Bank fold coverning Mrs Qamar's maternity leave and has settled well.
There are some good byes.... after many years with us, Mrs Sisley leaves at the end of this term to take up a post at a specialist teaching provision. We wish her well as she progresses in her career.
Miss Chapman too leaves Quarry Bank to start a teaching assistant post but remains with us in her cleaning post capacity. Good luck Miss Chapman!
Mr Walter, who has been working with us since January, leaves at the end of term has planned. He has supported staff and pupils in maths development and his contribution has been very much appreciated.
Key Stage 2 SATs
Year 6 pupils will be sitting their SATs 13th to 16th May 2019 inclusive. This gives children and staff this week and 2 weeks as we return from the Easter holidays to make final preparations. Please ensure children attend school punctually (so as not to disrupt their learning or that of others) and regularly. We shall again with the able assistance of our school kitchen (currently Rachel Morris and her team) be offering 'SATS Breakfasts' daily so that children can be at school in very good time, enjoy a nutritious meal and settle down with their friends and staff ready to do their best in the tests - more information to follow.
Nursery Places for September 2019
If you or someone you know is looking for a nursery place for a little one, please make contact with the school office for more information/arrange a visit. Nursery staff led by Mrs Hingley will be delighted to show you what we have to offer! With the provision having been rated 'Outstanding' by OFSTED and the dedicated building and outdoor space, we believe we offer something very special indeed! Tell your relatives and friends - we want as many children as possible to take full benefit.
Child collection arrangements - reminder please
If you require that someone different to usual arrangements collect your child from school, we need to be notified as early in the day (at morning 'drop off' preferably) but by 3.00 pm at the latest so that the necessary message can reach the appropriate member of staff in good time for a safe handover; after this point it may be the information will not reach staff/children.
Lost property continues to accumulate - school does its best to reunite named items with rightful owners but where clothing etc is unnamed and unclaimed we can only now offer logoed uniform items free (or for a small donation to School Fund) to parents/carers or dispose of non uniform items (usually to a charity shop). Please therefore make sure you pop into main reception in the next few days to reclaim missing items prior to it/them 'moving on'. Thank you.
School Kitchen Staff News
Many of you will already know that Mrs Amos, 'Brenda', is currently unwell and not able to be with us here in school. We miss her and she is missing us! It was lovely for her to be able to come in with her husband for a short while a week ago and everyone was glad to see her and have a chat. We continue to send our love and best wishes and hope she gets the news she's waiting for very, very soon.
In the meantime, 'school dinners go on!' Ms Rachel Morris is heading the kitchen staff and is doing a super job standing in for Brenda and ensuring we are all well fed! Thank you Rachel and the team!
